USC Health Data Lab

USC Health Data Lab

What is the Health Data Lab

The USC Health Data Lab is a valuable resource for students engaged in data analytics in relation to healthcare operations and management. Utilizing data from Cerner HealthFacts®, which extracts information from electronic health records of over 47 million patients across participating Cerner hospitals and clinics in the United States since 2000, the lab provides a rich dataset for research. The lab offers extensive support for users, including glossaries providing comprehensive explanations and foundational understanding for practical data analysis and exercises based in Tableau, allowing users to practice creating visualizations that translate complex healthcare data into meaningful insights. Access to the learning materials and data is currently restricted to students enrolled in participating classes.
